What is recorded here
Eight deep cup-marks, each as wide as a man's fist, are cut into one end of a long granite boulder lying beside a hedge in County Carlow. Someone stood there in the dark age before writing, striking stone until it gave way, making holes large enough to hold water, shadow or a promise. The boulder still lies on a gentle slope, unchanged while hedges and fields turned over around it.
On N side of hedge on gentle SE facing slope. Irregular granite boulder (L 1.7m; H 0.9m at SW end, 0.55m at NE end; Wth 0.20 - 0.25m), with eight cup-marks (diams. 6.5cm - 11cm) at SW end.
