What is recorded here

This site is located in the industrial peatlands of Toar Bog. The sighting was recorded in the 2013 Re-assessment Peatland Survey as the possible sub-structural remains of a NW–SE orientated trackway exposed on the field surface. Sighting A comprised of longitudinal roundwood and associated brushwood elements (max. L0.95m, Diam. 0.02-0.08m) exposed on the field surface. The elements were machine damaged and were in poor condition. Sighting B comprised of machine damaged longitudinally laid roundwood elements (max. L0.75m, max. diam. 0.08m). The site was situated in poorly humified Sphagnum peat (Whitaker 2014). A fragment of willow was chosen for AMS dating and returned a result of cal. AD 1416–1450 (UBA 26616).
