Enclosure in Williamstown — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Williamstown, County Carlow: a hidden ringfort, perhaps forty metres across, sleeps beneath farmland. No wall or ditch breaks the surface, yet shadow and soil still draw its circle. People may have lived there before the fields swallowed the name.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Aerial photograph (GSI S 239) shows circular area surrounded by cropmark of bank and fosse (est max. diam. c. 40m). No visible surface traces. Possibly a ringfort.
