O'Donovan (OSL 1839, 145-6) records tradition of abbey here, adjacent to castle (CW004-036----) and church (CW004-038----). No visible traces of any structure.
This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
