Weir is a post-medieval fish trap on the Shannon Estuary, 360m east of Bush Island in County Clare. Two timber alignments converge like a funnel, 182m and 40m long, forcing salmon and sea trout into a narrow kill. The posts still stand in the foreshore creek, witnesses to every flood and every catch since they were driven into the mud.

Situated c. 360m E of Bush Island on the Shannon Estuary. Described by O’Sullivan (2001, 303) as a post-medieval ‘post alignment on N side of creek on upper foreshore, oriented N-S, 182m long. A second post alignment with braces converges with this structure from NW, oriented NNW-SSE, 40m long.
