Castle Donnell (Site of) — Report the wrong picture

Castle Donnell stands in Cratloe, County Clare, remembered only through the field work of Risteárd Ua Cróinín and Martin Breen. The site has lost its visible shape, leaving behind a gap where a fortress should be. That absence makes the place more striking, inviting imagination to fill the void with forgotten life and vanished stone.

Built by the O'Donnell family in the 15th or 16th century, Castle Donnell is remembered as a significant Gaelic tower house site in the Cratloe area, reflecting the regional power and architecture of the time.
