The precise location of a watermill mentioned in a seventeenth century land grant to Captain Roger Atkinson has not been identified. In 1611 Captain Roger Atkinson was granted 'a water-mill in Adamstown' which was part of the 'estate of Thomas O'Brenan, late of Adamstown, attainted' (Cal. pat. rolls Ire., Jas I, 214).
