Adamstown Castle (in Ruins) — Report the wrong picture

Adamstown Castle was a tower house in Westmeath pasture, reduced to ruins beside a ringfort before a modern dwelling consumed its footprint. It vanished from the 1837 map but reappeared as a U-shaped shadow on the 1913 chart, proving stone and memory resist forgetting. The house may have watched roads, herds or arguments from its eastern rise while the ringfort kept older company behind it.

Situated to E of a gentle rise, in gently undulating pasture, with good views to E and S. A ringfort (WM025-130----) lies c. 60m to W. Not depicted or named on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map, where there is a farmyard shown. Depicted as a U-shaped structure annotated named ‘Adamstown Castle (in Ruins)’ on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map.
