What is recorded here
Baptista Boazio drew a castle on his 1590s chart, but nobody has found which rocks or walls he meant. The name floats above County Sligo like a marker on water, promising a tower that refuses to show itself. Perhaps it sank, perhaps it never existed beyond the chartmaker's imagination, or perhaps it still stands unseen behind a hedge or buried under grass. A castle that cannot be found may be the most honest castle of all.
This castle is included in the SMR (1989) based on information that a castle is marked on Baptista Boazio's chart dated 1590s. Its precise location is not known.
