Grave Yard in County Laois holds a ruined limestone church and a rectangular stone-walled enclosure where most memories face east, but one unusual memorial turns west toward the setting sun. That reversed alignment suggests the dead may have watched the light leave rather than await its return. The chamber has lost its fitted stones and stands in decay, yet the yard remains sharp enough to show how people marked time, death and direction before modern rules smoothed the edge.

Simple undivided nave and chancel church (LA005-011) built with roughly coursed limestone blocks and rubble. In poor repair and no cut stone left in situ. Sundial and pieces of cut stone of late medieval origin in graveyard. Rectangular shaped graveyard (int. dims. 86m N-S; 48m E-W) enclosed by a stone wall as indicated on current ed OS 6-inch map. Church in N quadrant of graveyard. Stile and coffin stand off centre to W in S wall of graveyard beside gateway and a second stile in NW angle of the graveyard wall. Majority of headstones located to the S of the church, one of these memorials has a sunburst depicted on the top half of the stone , has been previously described as a sundial but may have been a memorial with a sunburst symbol on the top half of the stone which is located to the SW of the church (LA005-011). A medieval churchyard with a simple undivided nave and chancel, dating to the late medieval period. Its significance lies in the presence of a sundial and fragments of cut stone, indicating some level of local craftsmanship and ecclesiastical use.
