Structure

Half a metre of plank lies buried in Kilkenny peat, split by time and teeth of millers who never knew whose hands first shaped it. The wood has forgotten the house it built, the room it bounded, the name of the person who stood behind it watching rain. What remains is a ribbon of pressure made visible, a line drawn through dirt by someone whose entire life fit inside that thin rectangle.
