Stone trough in Kilcornan (dunkellin By.)

Redington (1911-12, 182) recorded 'two rude boulders', in each of which there was 'a basin-like depression evidently artificially cut out' (see GA095-060002-), c. 3m and c. 12m to the NW of Kilcornan House (GA095-056001-) respectively. This third example was located '60 yards [c. 18m] to the S. of the house. Its basin measured '3ft. [c. 0.9m] by 1ft. 10in. [c. 3.3m] and 6in. [c. 0.15m] deep. Redington was unaware of what the purpose of these was but it was suggested to her that 'they were in the process of being made into troughs.' Not precisely located.
