Grave Yard stands at the summit of the Hill of Slane in County Meath, Ireland, where St. Patrick lit the Easter fire in defiance of the High King. The medieval parish church of St. Patrick occupies the centre of a sub-oval graveyard bounded by masonry walls, perhaps built upon an early monastery. Stones and fragments from older structures line the entrance gate, preserving layers of faith and memory within the same breath.

Situated at the summit of the Hill of Slane. St. Patrick lit the Easter fire on the Hill of Slane in defiance of the High King, and thus announced the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. The medieval parish church of St. Patrick (ME019-060002-), perhaps on the site of an early monastery, is within a sub-oval graveyard (dims c. 80m E-W; c. 34-43m N-S) defined by masonry walls. The shrine (ME019-060005-) and graveslab (ME019-060006-) are within the graveyard, while the architectural fragments (ME-019-060003-) and the stone head (ME019-060004-) are incorporated in the graveyard wall around the entrance gate at E.
