Not indicatd, a small sandstone cross fragment from County Monaghan, Ireland, was found in a drain across a children’s burial ground in 1983. One face bears intricate fretwork, while the other was prepared but left empty, as if the carver stopped before completing the story. It now rests in Monaghan County Museum, holding both the skill of its maker and the quiet mystery of what was never finished.

Portion of the decorated shaft of sandstone high cross (H 0.2m; Wth 0.18m; T 0.1m) was discovered in a drain across the children’s burial ground at the early church site (MO008-011----) in 1983. One face has a panel of fretwork but while the opposite face was prepared for carving no pattern was executed; the shorter sides were intended to be plain. It is now in Monaghan County Museum.
