Font (present location) in Rushwee (slane Upper By., Slane Ed)

Half a metre of scarred sandstone, broken and small, it stands outside the Rushwee church after travelling a kilometre from the Gernonstown graveyard where it once baptized. The basin is shallow now, the walls damaged, yet the shape remains: a round mouth for water, set down where people still pass. What it touched, what hands poured through it, has gone quiet. The stone remembers only weight, pressure and the patience of rain.
