Rathroe

Rathroe is an archaeological place in County Roscommon, Ireland. The ringfort sits on a low east-west ridge as a subcircular grass-covered area roughly 38 metres east to west and 33 metres north to south. Its earthen bank is overgrown and absorbed into the surrounding field boundary, while the outer ditch survives on the eastern and southern sides with a base width of around 4.5 metres and a depth of roughly 0.4 metres. Two modern entrances cut through the perimeter at the west-south-west and east-south-east, neither original to the early medieval structure.
