What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort in County Mayo, Ireland, occupying a grassy oval rise where four field walls meet. Its vertical scarp still marks a boundary, though farm stock have broken parts of the rim and thorns now ring the edge. The wide view to the north-east makes it easy to understand why people once set this place apart, and why it still feels like a room kept for another kind of guest.
In pasture, at a junction of four field walls, located on a rise in undulating terrain with good views, most extensive to N–NE.
Raised oval area (22.8m N–S; 28.5m E–W) defined N–E by a scarp with a broad external slope, and elsewhere by a vertical, partly stone-faced scarp which serves as a field boundary.
The interior is level and grassy, with a slight slope down from E of centre to E. Sections of the scarp at ENE and NNW have been broken down by farm stock. The perimeter is ringed with thorn bushes, brambles and gorse.
