Embanked enclosure

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

Marked as a bivallate enclosure (ext. diam. c. 85-95m) on the 1839 and 1925 eds of the OS 6-inch map and situated on the S-facing slope of a W-E spur in the foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains. This is a circular dished area (diam. c. 40m) with an outer bank incorporated in a road bank SE SW (C 60m). It is known locally to have been a double banked enclosure that was removed c. 1970. The abpve description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
