Embanked enclosure

Marked as double banked subrectangular enclosure (ext. dims. c. 70m E-W; c. 65m N-S) with slightly curved sides, particularly at E and W, only on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It is situated close to the summit of a low hill, on its S-facing slope. Nothing is visible at ground level in pasture. It is listed as a moated site (Barry 1977, 213, WX 2), but it may have been a ringfort, which was truncated by E-W field banks at N and S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
