Marianne and I walked past Rathglass Levelled Fairy Fort on a wet October evening. The mound was so flat it barely showed through the grass, but she stopped when the air changed. She pointed to a shallow dip near the western edge and said the fort had not disappeared, only waited for someone young enough to remember it. We sat beside the hidden ring until darkness came, listening for the faint sound of life inside the earth.

A mound 42m in diameter and rising from .1m in the W to .6m elsewhere seems to be the remains of a levelled ringfort. The centre is slightly hollow and there are possible indications of an entrance to the W. A field boundary and drain traverse the site N-S. It is situated on the crest of a low hill with ground falling to N and E. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
