Souterain is a man-made underground passage in the southeast quadrant of a Cork ringfort, where a central depression still hints at a collapsed chamber. It is the kind of hidden cut that suggests people once believed the ground could be shaped into a room, a refuge or a trap. The earth may have taken the roof back, but the intent remains buried beneath the grass.

In SE quadrant of ringfort (CO065-03101-). Depression towards centre of interior may indicate collapsed chamber.
