Daingean South Bog kept a wooden structure buried beneath industrial peatland until drainage pulled it into view. The hazel fragment dated to 1217-1293, suggesting people shaped that landscape centuries before machines scarred it. The wood vanished after 2014, leaving only measurement and memory behind.

This site was located in the industrial peatlands of Daingean South Bog. It was first recorded in the 2013 Reassessment Peatland Survey as a deposit of brushwood and roundwood elements (Diam 0.02-0.08m, max. L 1.04m) exposed on the field surface at the drain edge N of OF010-500. The find spot was relocated in 2014 (licence 14E0305) using GPS, but no wood remained in situ (Whitaker 2017).
