Structure

A band (Wth 2.07m; D 0.19m min.) of mixed brushwood, occasional twigs, one timber and a possible stake. The components are irregularly laid, up to three pieces deep and are quite scattered with some dense clusters of material in the SW portion of the site. The stake is set at 60°. Willow, birch, ash and Pomoideae were amongst the species identified. The site lies in well-humified Sphagnum and ericaceous peat containing fibrous roots. SMR OF010-274---- is 0.2m above this site. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2001. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
