Structure

A deposit (L 1.4m min.; Wth 1.5m; D 0.32m) of light brushwood and occasional twigs, which are generally dispersed, irregularly laid and up to three pieces deep. Woodworking is evidenced by a number of degraded metal-cut chisel points. The site lies at the boundary between two peat strata, both composed of moderately humified Sphagnum peat with fibrous roots. The upper peat has ericaceous remains, which are absent in the lower stratum. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2001. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
