What is recorded here
Rathcunningham holds a rath, an ancient earthwork whose boundary still marks the landscape in County Down. The official record preserves the name and location but gives no date, leaving the site open to imagination. Perhaps it was a fortress, a sanctuary or a boundary marker for a lost community. The clay and grass remember more than the document, waiting for a person brave enough to listen.
