Cist in Rathcoffey

Cist

What is recorded here

Rathcoffey in County Laois, Ireland holds an unlocated cist burial, a small chamber built for the dead before the landscape forgot the hands that shaped it. Whether it lay beneath a field, a road or a river bend, the chamber still belongs to the area even when the mark has vanished. Forgetting does not undo the work of building a cist; it only removes the chance to point at it.
