Barrow

In reclaimed wet pasture, one of a group of eleven possible barrows (LI040-026002/006-; 026008/013-), 130m NW of large impressive barrow (LI040-026001-) and immediately W of possible ditch (LI040-026008-). Not marked on OSi historic maps. Identified by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 61.02: AP 5/2101) as a small circular cropmark of a possible barrow. Monument is visible on oblique aerial photographs (CUCAP AVT026; AYO038) taken 20/07/1968 and 10/07/1969. No surface remains visible on OSi orthophotograph taken 2005-12. Ditch barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age (c. 2000–1500 BCE), associated with burial and ritual practices of the period. Its location within a group of barrows suggests a significant ceremonial or funerary landscape.
