Field system in Rath — Report the wrong picture

Rath stands in poorly-drained Limerick pasture, surrounded by linear earthen banks that once divided land into manageable strips. The rath overlookes the whole undulating valley, suggesting its residents valued both defence and visibility. People likely herded cattle between those ancient banks, reading weather in the open sky while the wet earth softened every footprint.

Situated in a field of poorly-drained, gently undulating pasture, with good views in all directions. Several relict linear earthen banks and some possible platforms are evident in the immediate vicinity of a rath (LI015-013----). Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 29 October 2013
