Fairy forts are not fairy forts, they are human ringforts misnamed because people stopped remembering the humans who built them. In Raclaghy that forgotten house fit a thirty-metre circle on a rise, visible in satellite images before field work erased it. The fairies did not arrive to confuse the truth; human pride did. It is easier to laugh at fairies than to admit how quickly ordinary life can be flattened and forgotten.

Situated on a rise in an undulating landscape. A slightly raised grass-covered area (diam. c. 30m) is visible on Digital Globe (c. 2013) and it is also visible on Google Earth (05/10/2009), but it may have been removed by 2014 (Google Earth 17/06/2014) as the fields had been reclaimed by then. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Raclaghy is a circular earthwork likely dating to the early medieval period, associated with ancient Irish settlement or ritual activity. Local tradition links such sites to fairy folklore, with beliefs that they are entrances to the Otherworld or homes of supernatural beings.
