Eight metres long, three wide and seventy centimetres deep, the hollow sits on the eastern scarp of the Puntabeg rath like a swallowed room. Local tradition calls it an underground passage, yet no stone, brick or cut edge shows at the surface to prove the claim. The absence is the shape: a long dark gap in the earth where a built way should be, waiting for someone to drop a stone and listen for the return.

According to local tradition, an irregular-shaped hollow (c. 8m N−S; 3m E−W; D c. 0.7m), located on the line of the rath scarp at E, is the location of a Man-made underground passage.
