What is recorded here

Gallán is a 1.3m standing stone with quartz veins, set on a north-facing slope in County Cork. Bowman recorded it in 1934 as one of six stones in the townland, yet it never appeared on the 1842 or 1906 maps. It still stands beside field clearance stones, visible only to someone walking that exact pasture rather than reading a border.

Not marked on 1842 and 1906 OS 6-inch maps. In pasture, near top of N-facing slope. Stone (H 1.3m; 1.3m x 0.73m) is irregular in plan and shape with quartz veins running through it; long axis NE-SW. Field clearance stones on E side. One of six stones (10136, 10137, 10138, 10140, 10141) recorded by Bowman (1934, 659) in this townland; '(a) In J. Daly's'.
