Mullaghmast Rath is a large circular area 56 metres across, surrounded by a high earthen bank and deep fosse, with an entrance at the northeast. It sits on a hill in pasture land beside a barrow complex to the south, preserving a shape that may have marked boundary, ritual or residence long before written memory. The uneven interior and massive rampart suggest repeated use, perhaps by herds, families or feast-goers, while local story may still call it a fairy fort because its scale and isolation resist ordinary explanation.
