Enclosure in Mountrice

Mountrice in County Kildare is a ghost pen, invisible in the pasture but drawn in shadow on aerial photos, its gap pointing NW as if waiting for someone to leave. A burial lies eighty metres west and a mound watches from ninety metres north, suggesting the field was never empty even when the wall vanished. People may have walked past the hole and called it ordinary, while the dead kept the shape alive beneath the grass.
