Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Moig South

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy forts hide from human eyes, but this one surrendered to a plough. A twenty-metre ring of earth stood in the Moig South pasture until farm work erased it, leaving no trace for later visitors. The fairies likely watched the metal cut through their wall and vanished into the soil rather than resist. They understand ownership better than people, refusing to be buried or displayed. What they cannot tolerate is being measured, mapped and forgotten.
In pasture, in slight dip in gently undulating terrain. Monument, depicted on 1841 OS 6-inch map as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m), has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
