What is recorded here

Glassavanny Moat is a small, steep-sided hillock in County Kildare, adapted into a platform ringfort before most of its earth was quarried away. The summit still measures twenty metres across, but the surrounding slope has been cut back until the fort floats like a broken coin above the land. Whatever lived there has been reduced to a narrow disc of soil, yet the shape remains sharp enough to suggest a chamber, a watchpost or a forgotten room.
Small, steep-sided hillock of natural origin (overall diam. c. 40m; diam. of summit 20m), adapted for use as platform-type ringfort, most of which has been quarried away. Date of upload: 15 September 2016
