What is recorded here

Half a metre of earth and four metres of rushing grass mark the edge of a forgotten chamber on the drumlin ridge. The bank still stands though the entrance has vanished, suggesting people once chose exactly where not to be seen. A neighbouring rath shares the same ditch, tying the two circles together like a whispered conversation across centuries.

Located on top of a NE-SW drumlin ridge at the NE end. This is a grass-covered subcircular area (int. dims 30m E-W; 26.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at S: Wth 1.95m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.5m) which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.35m) at N, and traces of an external fosse visible as a band of rushes (Wth 4m). The original entrance is not identified. The rath (LE031-059---) is immediately adjacent to the E, sharing the fosse with this monument, and rath (LE031-057----) is c. 75m to the SW. It remains unplanted within a forest since at least 1995 (OSAP). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J.
