Sluice gates on the River Shannon, built in 1882, with concrete and stone cutwaters, steel-framed parapet to pedestrian footbridge.
This sluice, erected to control water levels in the Shannon, is an impressive structure and reflects the age of Victorian engineering schemes. It is in a good state of repair and is a striking feature within the landscape.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
