What is recorded here
There is a tradition that the mill recorded as the property of Joan de Vallence at Bannow in 1307 (Hore 1900-11, vol. 4, 452-3) was in the same field as Brandane church (WX045-047----), in the valley of a small E-W stream (O’Broin 1921, 121), but there is no evidence of any structure, and its precise location cannot be known.
