What is recorded here

Under the road north of the Ardgroom ringfort, a man-made passage waits in darkness. Whether it served as a hiding place, a water channel or a forgotten route, the tradition preserves more than stone; it preserves the shape of human cleverness beneath an ordinary surface.
Tradition of Man-made underground passage with an entrance under road to N of ringfort (CO102-00701-) (O'Brien 1970, 22). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
