Crannog in Lough Ennell

Standing on the S end of Lough Ennell, 180m E of the shoreline with Nure or Lilliput and 440m NW of the point where the River Brosna enters the lake. Listed as Lady Island and described by O'Sullivan (2004, 105-6) as 'an oval, high-cairn (approx. dims. 18m NE-SW x 14m NW-SE; H 2.5m) site (possibly built on a natural, rocky knoll), 1m above water level. It is fairly regularly built, typically of small fist-sized stones (10-15cm in length). It has a level upper surface, an even profile and slopes gradually to the water. There is a stone kerb of large limestone blocks around the island at the water’s edge. A modern concrete statue of the Goddess Minerva stands on the island in a rusty oil barrel'.
