Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Towards the bottom of a SE-facing slope. Circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 34.5m E-W; 33.7m N-S) defined by an overgrown but poached earthen bank (Wth 4.5-7.2m; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.8-1.95m), with a fosse (Wth of top 4.6m; Wth of base 2.4m; D 1m) NW-NE and S-SSW. The fosse is destroyed by quarrying NE-S and backfilled SSW-NW. The bank is quarried N-NNE where an entrance (Wth 2.5m) and causeway are recorded (Gannon 1972). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
