Kiltoome holds a vast ecclesiastical enclosure, measuring two hundred metres east-west and one hundred forty north-south, where a low earthen bank and fosse still mark the boundary of a forgotten sacred landscape. The early church sits nested inside a larger enclosure, which itself is swallowed by this wide perimeter, suggesting layers of devotion and exclusion built across centuries. Much of the bank has surrendered to farming, becoming a field boundary or fading into a shallow ditch, yet the scale remains startling. It is easy to imagine monks walking that circuit at dawn, not as rulers but askeepers of a quiet, bounded world.

Situated on a fairly level landscape. The early church (ME036-011----) is within a large enclosure (ME036-011001-), which is within an ecclesiastical enclosure (dims. c. 200m E-W; c. 140m N-S) defined by a low earthen bank and fosse NW-ENE. The perimeter is incorporated into a field bank ENE-ESE and traceable as a fosse ESE-SSW. The field system (ME036-012----) is attached to the S.
