Killinane holds a fulacht fia, a ancient cooking pit where hot stones cracked under water to bring food to a boil. The exact spot has vanished beneath later fields, but burnt material still marks the ground south of the burial ground. People may have gathered there to eat together, celebrate, or prepare food for travel. The pit is gone, yet the chance of hunger, heat and shared life remains written in the soil.
