Grave Yard

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Grave Yard in Commons, County Kildare, is a polygonal burial ground holding a fortified church and medieval stones beside later markers. It sits near Toberkevin and an old laneway that may have joined the Naas to Glendalough pilgrimage route, suggesting this quiet corner served as a sacred stopping place long before modern graves appeared. The stone wall, ruined church and cross slabs still outline a lane of memory where ordinary travel became devotion.
Polygonal shaped graveyard (approx. dims. 41m N-S; 57m E-W) enclosed by post-1700 wall with fortified church (KD038-006----) in centre and medieval graveslab (KD038-006002-) to SSW of church. Date of upload: 15 September 2016
