Kilbronoge Burial Gd. (Children) (Disused)

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Kilbronoge Children's Burial Ground in County Cork, Ireland, appears on a 1902 map yet resists easy identification because no grave markers remain visible. The absence does not diminish the place; it suggests that time, weather or human change removed what could be seen. The children may have been buried beside adults, marked only by prayer, memory or soil itself.
In an ecclesiastical enclosure (CO140-043006-).Though named 'Kilbronoge Burial Ground (Children) (Disused)' on the 1902 OS 6-inch map, no concentration of grave-markers was noted in the ecclesiastical enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
