Hut site in Gearhanagoul

In rough hill pasture, on a S-facing slope, in the valley of the Coomeelan stream and within a network of relict field boundaries (KE103-006001-). The remains of an oval hut site (3.6m E-W; 3m N-S) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.5m). The lower courses of the wall protrude above the surface of the bog. There is a large boulder incorporated into the wall along the NE arc. This boulder forms the N side of a possible entrance break at NE. The interior is cut into the upslope at N and raised (H 0.3m) at S to compensate for the hillslope. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
