What is recorded here

Gallán is a rectangular standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, rising 2.26 metres on an east-facing pasture slope. It stands with another similar stone 120 metres to the north, both marked by packing stones at their bases and striations on the north face. The pair may have guided herds, marked a boundary, or watched the sunrise, but their exact purpose has faded into the grass and silence around them.

In pasture, on E-facing slope. Rectangular stone (H 2.26m; 0.82m x 0.2m), long axis N-S. Packing stones exposed at base. Some striations on N side of stone. Standing stone (CO064-047---) of similar shape and size, c. 120m to N. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
