Rendered coursed rubble limestone walls with concealed flush quoins to corners. Square-headed central door opening with concealed dressings framing remains of timber fitting having overlight. Square-headed window openings with cut-granite sills, and concealed red brick block-and-start surrounds framing one-over-one timber sash windows. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Gowran Castle.
A worker's house illustrating the continued development or "improvement" of the Gowran Castle estate in the nineteenth century with the architectural value of the composition, one carrying the Agar-Ellis coat of arms, confirmed by such attributes as the compact plan form centred on a somewhat featureless doorcase; the definition of the principal "apartment" or reception room by a Classically-detailed polygonal bay window; and the decorative timber work embellishing the roofline.
