What is recorded here

No visible earthwork survives at Gorteennacreeagh today, though a 1986 aerial photo showed a faint enclosure and possible pond in pasture near the Knockainey West and Rathanny boundaries. The ground has since hidden or erased that shape from later satellite images. Whatever lived there may have been a boundary marker, a water trap or a forgotten farm feature rather than an ancient monument.

In pasture, 23m W of townland boundary with Knockainey West and 20m N of townland boundary with Rathanny. Identified as a possible enclosure by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 66; AP 5/2075). No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 or on Google Earth orthoimages. Possible pond feature visible on Bruff image. Doubtful antiquity.
