Burial ground

What is recorded here

Just below the top of a low hillock on a ESE-facing slope in undulating countryside with good views in all directions. A ringfort (TS043-025----) is visible 290m to the E. According to the OS Namebooks (O'Donovan et. al. 1840) there was a small burial place located inside or close to the ringfort (TS042-042001-). Low, barely discernible, earthworks in the centre of ringfort may be the remains of the burial ground. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 26 August 2011
A portal dolmen dating to the Neolithic period; its location on a prominent slope suggests it may have had ritual or ceremonial significance in the landscape.
